A poster that tells its own story — and how your work can become one

What a Living Poster is

It is a printed poster like any other. Under the image sits a QR code. You scan it with your phone, the music starts — and next to the painting stands its story: who made it, when, and what was going on around it.

The paper does not change. What changes is what a visitor can find out while standing in front of it.

Why we built it

In a museum every work has a little sign beside it, and that sign is half the visit. At home the sign is missing. The guest sees a picture and asks the owner what it is — and the owner tells the part they remember.

The code puts the sign back, without printing a wall of text under the image.

It started with the masters

The first Living Posters are works in the public domain: van Gogh, Klimt, Monet, Hokusai, Munch, Friedrich. The originals stay in their museums; we print posters of them, in three sizes, with a wooden or black frame, or without.

They were the honest place to start — we could try the whole thing without asking anyone to risk their work on it.

Now it is open to artists

Any artist on lakatosbandi.com can have their works as Living Posters: their painting, their story, their name on the poster. The originals stay where they are and stay theirs — a poster sold does not touch the one work that exists.

We do not do this behind anyone's back. Nothing of yours becomes a poster unless you ask for it.

What you get for it

10 € for every poster of yours that we sell. It is added on top of our price, not taken out of it — what the printing and our share cost stays our business.

You decide which works may be printed, work by work, and you can take that back at any time.

How to take part

Register on lakatosbandi.com and tick the box in your profile: I want to sell my works as Living Posters. Then pick the works. That is all — nothing is printed before you have seen it.
